Committees
Environment (Therese McFall): no report; recommended to stay with old Paschal candle stand as the Advent one is considered too wobbly for purposes of year round movement of the candle, Therese will need to order a new candle
Sacristans (Larry Levine): Holy Water font has been repaired in sacristy & the water has been blessed; determined that the stain on the altar cloth is permanent; when the current wine is depleted, will switch to red wine and order jointly with St. James; thanks to Marie Morris for cleaning all the brass items; temporarily stopped new hosts’ orders/deliveries
Music (Nancy Provost) : Father recommended combining choirs for English-only masses; recommended keeping Responsorial Psalm the one shown in the Missalette;
Nancy will call a joint choir meeting to make a decision regarding future of music at St. Albert’s; guideline for song choices and instruments has not changed with the New Rite… remains that organ and piano are favored, songs are to be liturgically correct and scripturally based; song choices may come from Today’s Liturgy but are not limited to this list if they meet requirements stated above; Nancy voiced Renata’s concerns regarding Bi-Lingual choir music, 3 suggestions were given for increasing the amount of music available and increasing the choir members autonomy
Lectors (Susan Ruland): concern for poor attendance of lectors at practices and the attitude of many lectors for their ministry
Ushers (Gus Ludwig and Charley Nowak): no news
Eucharistic Ministers/ Servers (Bonnie Allen): due to limited number of Eucharistic Ministers starting Jan. 8 there will only be 2 bread distributers and 4 cups; although there are 16 trained servers, they are not showing up per schedule and this is a big problem for Sundays when there is no CRE
Sound (Tony Rimkus) – no news
Adoration (Betty Christ) – no news, Betty will be asked to coordinate the Divine Mercy novena
Greeters (Linda Hollowell) – no news
*Other: Kernel Stephens is the new coordinator for Rosary
Bonnie Allen will price 2-3 tables for the vestibule for better aesthetics
Co-chair for Liturgy ( Bonni Galewski): Virtus preparing for next class; Bonni will make an announcement for volunteers for choir with the meeting time and date.
Co-chair for Liturgy/Children’s Lit (Karen Krug) Reflection Room is ready for use with permanent furniture, obtaining a matching name plate; Fred Dice has made a Children’s altar so Father may say mass closer to the pews for Children’s masses; discussed the disconnect between parishioners/volunteers and Father Mathew due to his immense responsibilities of 3 churches; except for the Parish Council meeting next month, this was my final meeting for Liturgy. Bonni G will remain as sole Liturgy Chair with a 3 year assignment.
Next meeting: Thursday, March 8, 2012 @ 10:00 a.m.
Karen Krug, Co-Chair, Final Minutes
